“Heimat is a German concept that is difficult to translate with a single word, even though it corresponds to a universal feeling. It means the country in which you were born, the villagewhere you grew up, but also the house where you spent your childhood or where you feel at home. Heimat is a feeling, similar perhaps to a religious belief, it entails childhoodmemories, familiar horizons and a very precise ambiance."
